Facing Covid-19 and Other Life Crises
When everything looks upside down, we desperately want peace. That's true right now, as life is up-ended by the Corona virus and economic stress. After years of going my own way, my life imploded. Deep grief brought me to my knees. I prayed to God to show me his Son. I learned to seek Jesus Christ and discovered His great love for all of us. Reading the Bible helped me see how God loves humans as flawed and sinful as me. Jesus came to show us the Father. Jesus' sacrificial love, dying on a cross to erase the sins of mankind, opens the way for a relationship with the Triune God: Father, Jesus, the Son and the Holy Spirit. As you read these verses. I pray you will ask God to help you draw near to Him. You only have to ask. Psalm 25:4-7 4 Show me your ways, LORD, teach me your paths. 5 Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. 6 Remember, LORD, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old. 7 Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you, LORD, are good. |
Faith, An Antidote to Fear
Faith doesn't mean a person gets a free pass from pain or crises. Faith gives us Someone (God the Father, the Redeemer Jesus and the Holy Spirit) to turn to for guidance and calm when chaos hits. Philippians 4:6,7 NKJ 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (NKJ: New King James version) **** Jesus comforted His disciples, knowing He was about to die on a cross. Yet, He urged them and urges us today to accept His gift of peace. John 14:25-27 NIV 25“All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (NIV: New International Version) *** If faith seems ridiculous, ask God to help you see Him. If you seek Him, you will find Him. Revelation 3:20 NIV 20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. (NIV: New International Version) |
